Weyl Semimetals
Abstract
The Weyl equation describes generic degeneracy points of two electronic bands in three-dimensional crystals. These degeneracies are the characteristic feature of the recently discovered Weyl semimetals. I will discuss their phenomenology, including magnetotransport properties that offer an interesting analogy to the chiral anomaly in high-energy physics. In addition, I will explain why Weyl points are surprisingly abundant in electronic bands.
