Title
Condensed-Matter Systems Shaken, not Stirred: Non-Equilibrium Avenue to Novel Quantum Phases
Abstract
Putting solid-state or cold-atom systems out of equilibrium, can realise fascinating quantum phases such as topological and superconducting states unattainable in equilibrium, when shaken, not stirred into chaotic states. I shall overview theoretical ideas and experimental detections for the exotic phenomena. As contrasted with materials design, controlling non-equilibrium dynamics may be thought of as a “design along time axis”. I shall also touch upon the “Higgs mode” in superconductors, a condensed-matter analogue of the renowned particle, which is generated by illuminating a THz laser and accommodates a strong nonlinear third-harmonic generation.
