Title
Quantum Channel Capacities - Knowns and Unknowns
Abstract
The last decade or so has seen dramatic progress in our understanding of how we can communicate via a quantum channel, including the realisation that there are many types of information we can transmit, and many tasks that can be measured by a rate of success. However, most of these capacities, i.e. the ultimate physical limits of communication, still elude us. I will review the basic framework of quantum communication, and give a glimpse into the “zoo” of channel capacities, highlighting some of the key tools, basic problems such as the pervasive non-additivity of our capacity formulas, and current challenges.
