Title
Symmetry Breaking and Topological Excitations in Bose-Einstein Condensates
Abstract
The fundamental properties of superfluid systems are determined by symmetry breaking and their topological excitations are universal among different systems if the underlying symmetry is shared by them. In this talk, I will present a cornucopia of symmetry breaking and topological excitations in gaseous Bose-Einstein condensates such as fractional vortices, non-Abelian vortices, and knot excitations, and discuss their implications to quantum turbulence and high-energy physics.
