Title
Atomic Scale Functional Devices
Abstract
Fabricating electronic devices with functional units of atomic size is a major driving force of nanotechnology. Key elements in microelectronics include switches and small magnets that both can be operated as memory devices. Here I will show that an atomic-size contact can be operated as reliable two-terminal switch. I will then address the emergence of magnetism at the atomic scale and how it can be revealed by magnetotransport measurements.
