The Borexino Heritage: PP and CNO Solar Neutrinos

Abstract

The Borexino experiment has recently obtained the first observation of the neutrinos produced by the CNO cycle in the Sun [Nature, Vol. 587, 26-11-2020]. It is a remarkable achievement, which completes a long list of important measurements and results. The seminar will review briefly the experiment and the previous results and then mainly focus on the CNO measurement, describing what makes it harder than the previous one and the strategy adopted to get to the goal.
