Dynamic Jamming: Turning Fluids Into Solids
Abstract
Dry granular materials and their “wet” counterparts, dense suspensions of macroscopic particles in a liquid, have become active areas of research for the investigation of far-from-equilibrium physics. This talk will highlight some of the remarkable flow properties of these seemingly simple materials, which often can appear at once fluid- as well as solid-like.
