Title
Quantum Gas in a Box
Abstract
Ultracold atomic gases are used with great success to study phenomena such as Bose-Einstein condensation and superfluidity. Traditionally they were harmonically trapped and inhomogeneous, but now we can create uniform gases in optical box traps, which improves links with theory and allows qualitatively new experiments. I will illustrate this with our studies of non-equilibrium phenomena, including turbulence and universal coarsening dynamics.
