Title
Single electron spin resonance spectroscopy using microwave photon counting
Abstract
Electron Spin Resonance (ESR) spectroscopy characterizes paramagnetic impurities in a sample, with applications in chemistry, biology, and material sciences. We have developed a novel ESR detection method that reaches single spin sensitivity, using a microwave photon counter based on a superconducting qubit at millikelvin temperatures. I will present results obtained with Er3+ ions in a scheelite crystal, and discuss applications.
