Title
Diode behavior in atomic-scale Josephson junctions
Abstract
Diodes are crucial components in electronics and are typically made of semiconductors. Superconductors can carry current without resistance. Ideal diode behavior can be envisioned if current flows without resistance in one direction and dissipatively in the reverse direction. We fabricate atomic-scale junctions of superconductors in a scanning tunneling microscope. Insertion of a single magnetic atom enables the observation of diode behavior.
