Title
Forming Galaxies in a Computer: Recent Advances and Challenges
Abstract
Our universe is threaded by billions of galaxies organized in walls, filaments and clusters. The LCDM theory is successful at predicting the dynamics of cosmic structure on large scale. Predicting the rich variety of galaxy shapes and colors is a much more challenging endeavor. I will present the current status of the theory of galaxy formation, with an emphasis on small scale physics, star formation and associated stellar feedback.
