Title
The CLOUD Experiment at CERN: Is Climate Change Linked to Galactic Cosmic Rays?
Abstract
A significant source of cloud condensation nuclei for cloud formation originates from new particle formation (aerosol nucleation). Despite extensive research, many questions remain about the dominant nucleation mechanisms, including the potential influence of ions from galactic cosmic rays, and the role of sulfuric acid, ammonia and other nucleating agents. The CLOUD experiment at CERN was set up to resolve this issue of high societal relevance.
