Title
News from Quantum Hall Effect
Abstract
Even 25 years after the first observation of the Quantum Hall Effect (QHE), new publications appear every day where the term QHE is mentioned either in the title or in the abstract. Many of these publications are not related to solid state physics and as an introduction some of these theoretical papers are mentioned. The first part of the talk summarizes the most important applications of the QHE in metrology in connection with fundamental constants and ideas for new definitions of the SI base units including a new definition of the kilogram, the unit of mass. The second part of the presentation gives an introduction to very recent experimental results on coupled QHE- devices which show properties of a new quantum state denoted as condensation of excitons and superfluidity.
