Title
Galaxy Clusters on the Edge
Abstract
Theoretical models predict that galaxy clusters collapse from the largest and rarest peaks in the primordial density field, which makes them powerful cosmological probes. I will show that dynamics of cluster collapse gives rise to sharp caustics in “phase space,” manifesting as sharp “edges” of matter and galaxy density in configuration space. I will argue that these edges are a natural physical boundary of clusters and will discuss their recent observational detections around real clusters.
