Title
Controlling Nonlinear Dynamics of Complex Lasers
Abstract
One major issue for high-power lasers is the temporal instability that originates from nonlinear light-matter interactions. By tailoring the cavity geometry of a broad-area semiconductor laser, we disrupt the coherent nonlinear processes that cause filamentation and irregular pulsation. With spatio-temporal instabilities being suppressed, we utilize the spatio-temporal interference of numerous lasing modes to achieve massively-parallel ultrafast random bit generation with a single laser diode.
