Title
A Research-Validated Approach to Transforming Upper-Division Physics Courses
Abstract
We are transforming upper-division physics courses using principles of active engagement and learning theory. I will outline some reforms including consensus learning goals, small group activities, and modified homework. We examine impacts based on grades, interviews, conceptual, and attitudinal surveys. This work provides examples of what transformed courses can look like, and offers insights into student difficulties.
