Title

Force and Function of Proteins In-Vitro and In-Silico

Abstract

Life is based on molecular interactions. Some of them are optimized for adequate resilience to mechanical stress. We recently discovered that certain adhesion complexes of pathogenic microbes reach the limit of covalent bonds. With a combination of AFM-based single molecule force spectroscopy and all-atom steered MD simulations we elucidated the physics of the molecular mechanisms governing this extreme mechanostability.
